Winter Whidbey Weekend

A couple of weeks ago we were invited by our good friend, David, to spend the weekend at his new "vacation home" on Whidbey Island. Of course, we jumped at the chance for an impromptu get-away with some friends!

His house is so r-e-l-a-x-i-n-g and only a block from this lovely beach.

Connor's sister Shannon brought her clan along for the fun. And our pal Gary was able to join the party. We had a blast hanging out at David's place playing games, eating, tossing the football and just doing a whole lotta nothin... Which was DIVINE!

When the clouds parted, we came to the beach as much as possible.
We unearthed crabs and mud guppies...

Belted rocks far out into the sea with drift wood bats...

Made a dogs day...

Built amazingly cool forts using only "cousin muscle power".

Look at all of that teamwork in action!

Jay, sitting inside the fortress... Making sure it's up to par.

Nick and Nolan sheltered from the breeze...

Skyward shot from inside...

Jesse and Nick battling it out to the bitter end...

Shannon and some kids playing games...

Thanks David, for inviting us to your lovely home.
It was just what the doctor ordered... A splendid time with good friends, low-key fun, fresh air, & a great escape from the winter blahs that this family needed!

It looks like all of you had a great time. I'm sure Connor & Shannon remember our annual trips to Whidby Island to visit Carrie & Reg. We never knew what adventures the trip would hold. You are welcome to our beach any time!!!
